Scam Alert - From the Polk County Sheriffs Office

The Polk County Sheriff Office wants to remind you:  If you received a text message stating that you must pay a toll road fee and are directed to a click on a link or respond, it's a scam.  Do not engage with these messages.  If you are ever unsure about any communication, please contact the Sheriff's Office at 828-894-3001 for verification.

Other common scams to be aware of:

-Impersonation emails or calls requesting personal information

-Fake offers for prized or lotteries

-Message asking for payment to claim goods or service
